Design
Successful technology development is about managing complexity, limiting its tendency to drive increased cost to those areas that provide high impact. Our strategic approach to RF and mixed signal design reduces risk and schedule to deliver a competitive product on a relevant timeline. Single channel, multi-channel, transmit, receive, beamforming, antennas and arrays covering L to Ku band – we can do it all.
We can start from a block diagram and list of requirements filling in the details to yield a complete design ready for layout. This approach allows us to leverage familiar components, stackups, and existing libraries to reduce risk, cost, and lead times. Alternatively, we can also work from custom stackups and schematics and provide embedded RF subcircuit designs like manifolds and interconnect transitions to generate a design ready for layout.
Layout
Performance and cost of RF and mixed signal parts are highly affected by decisions made during layout. Isolation, uniformity, signal integrity, and linearity, can all be negatively impacted by poor layout choices. At Piercing Technologies our RF design engineers do the layouts because we understand how critical this is to deliver high quality product. Our layout process begins with a floorplan of the part followed by a signal and power integrity analysis. Following the completion of these critical analyses the project is released to detailed design. This approach allows us to identify choke points and other routing issues early and resolve them before they materialize as schedule delays or performance inhibitors. We can deliver just the manufacturing database (ODB++) or generate the entire data package by adding PWB/ceramic substrate drawings, CCA/module drawings, and parts lists.
